My mother-in-law once told me to always hide some money, not a lot, in your purses for emergency use (as well as some tissue & some tic tacs - ha!).
She had her favorite purse, but because she was a woman of great class, she would swap her purses depending on what she was wearing. You never saw her with a brown purse, if her shoes and her outfit were black. I picked up on this little trick very early in my married life. She would comment on my purses, especially if she liked it and if for some strange reason I goofed and had the wrong color purse with my outfit. She always noticed - ha! She was never rude, but I knew that a real lady took notice of these things.
Because I love this woman so much and admire her a great deal, I have made it a point to have nice purses and to stash my emergency money in all of them (and also am always color coordinated).
This morning as I was getting ready for work I changed purses and what a wonderful surprise to find zipped in one of the pockets a $10 bill!!! It felt like I had won the lottery. There was also a package of clean tissues and some tic tacs. Grandma would have been proud!!

YAY, I love it when I find money I didn't know I had!
That made me cry! How sad I know, but I miss Grandma sooo much! Don't forget the Red Cinnimon gum!
I love my Grandma's "style and class"-her ways are now my ways too. Just like your Grandma :) My Grandma's purse had lipstick and a powder and mirror. She's always let me hold the mirror for her...your post made me cry too!
