Oh What Do You Do In The Summer Time?

Oh, what do you do in the summer time, when all the world is green?

Do you fish in a stream (or lake),

or lazily dream on the banks

as the clouds go by?

Is that what you do?

So do I!

We (Doug, Aaron, Brent & myself) spent the 4th of July long weekend at my brother-in-law & sister-in-law's cabin (Ralph & Martha Jo) in Greer, Arizona. We missed Melissa, who stayed home with their new little puppy.

It was beautiful weather . . . oh my gosh!! It was in the 50's and it rained, not hard, every day. We left here on Thursday right after work and arrived around 10:30 p.m. We visited for a little bit with Ralph & Martha Jo and then we all hit the sack. We got up really early the next morning to go fishing.

Now I'm not complaining . . . well yes, I am, but I did not catch a dang thing!! I had a couple of nibbles and maybe they weren't even nibbles but maybe the darn fish were playing with my Power Bait - who knows. Doug caught two on Friday and then on Saturday late afternoon Aaron caught three and Brent caught seven. Doug released his two and well . . . . Brent lost all seven of his. I guess he didn't really set them too good and he lost them as he was bringing them in the boat (at least that's the story I heard). So we ate and enjoyed the three that Aaron got Saturday night. Yummy!!!! (I only had a picture of Doug with his two - Brent has the picture of Aaron's catch ~ I'll get Brent to post it later)

I did catch this little guy . . . I know Melissa will not like this picture, but this is Walter the Water Snake. He hung out with me all Friday morning. He first started out by Doug (who hates any kind of snakes) and after getting whacked a couple of times with Doug's fishing pole, he moved over near me. I liked him and wanted to pick him up, but I was afraid I would have to walk back to the cabin if I did, so I just talked to him and had him pose for this close up. Isn't he kind of cute?

I loved just sitting either on the banks of the lake or in Brent's boat. There were very few boats and the water was just so calm and I found myself just completely unwinding.

Don't we look relaxed????

It was a wonderful weekend. The only thing it was missing was Melissa and some fish for me!!
