I'm a "clipper". What is that you ask? I clip coupons. I have for years and I enjoy it, but when I'm weeding through the old ones, organizing the new ones, I get a little sad when I see the money that I could have saved just thrown away, like the picture above. I started clipping coupons shortly after we got married . . . 30 years ago! I wasn't very good at it then. Oh I could save $2 or $3 at the checkout, but when I started saving $10 and more I knew if I could organize myself and really work at it I could save even more. I am now a seasoned pro. I can save anywhere from $50 to $75 each week. One time I even got $75 worth of groceries for $3.85!!! It even goes beyond the grocery store. I have gotten us into movies free, free DVD rentals, free ice cream and well the list goes on. Doug use to laugh at me or almost groan when he would see the coupon box, but I think now when I say, "Oh, I think I have a coupon for that", he is smiling inside and out.

I've tried to do that, but get really frusrated cause it's a lot of work to keep up on that.
Wow, I'm with Melissa. I don't think I could ever be that organized. I have coupons in my wallet that just sit there. I always forget to use them. I just price match at WalMart...
Don't have time - wish I did. You know I love a good bargain. Way to go - you are the COUPON QUEEN!
Seriously...you are way too dedicated! But, I think it's awesome! I just wish that I could even remember to price match at Walmart!
I am so impressed! I think maybe I should come over and you can give me a lesson and your method. I think if I got into the habit, I could do something like that. I think I would have to get organized though so I could get to the store early in the morning before Kent leaves. I can't imagine trying to do coupons with kids. They are impatient anyway by the time we get to checkout. I am always thinking..."Why is this checker so SLOW?? Can't she see that we are about to have a meltdown here??"
Thanks for finding me Sister Hunsaker! How are you?
haha! that story about the nail polish was so funny! i am pretty sure my little guy might have the same reaction!
about the coupons- I am totally into coupons, and I love to save money!! I joined couponsense, and it makes it so easy! they do all of the work for you pretty much, except for clipping the coupons!
A. Lori - did you put the time on there for me to notice how much time I spend stalking blogs? You missed the scorpion hunt at my parents house on Sunday. They killed 7!!!
if you go to couponsense.com, you can get a 1 week free trial if you would like. Basically, you can get anywhere from 3-6 sunday papers every week (however many you sign up for, and it is the AZ republic) and each week, you take out all of the coupon inserts (smartsource, redplum, P&G, whatever it happens to contain that week)and you can go to the website and it will tell you what to label on the front of each insert. Each week gets a letter of the alphabet, and each coupon gets a number for that week. (you don't go and number each coupon, just the front cover of the insert. for example- week A, #1-55)Then, you file it appropriately, and they give you suggestions for it. Or you can use your own filing method :o) Every Sunday, when the coupons come out, the ladies who work for the website, enter in every coupon that came out that day, and number them all. Every Wednesday when the new ads come out, the website is updated by noon that day. It lists every item for sale in every ad that comes out, and tells you if there are any coupons that would go with whatever is on sale. Also, on Sunday, they update the sale list with any new coupons that came out that might go with anything on sale that week. (for example, if you wanted yogurt, and it was on sale at Fry's, then you would look on the list under fry's, find yogurt, and it would tell you the coupon number, what the yogurt is on sale for, and how much it ends up costing after the coupon is applied.) Anyway, I just tried to simply explain it to you, but you can get much more info for it on the website. Also- the AZ republic gives huge discounts to CS members. If you want a good consultant, my hubby's aunt is one, and she can answer any questions you may have. Her name is Rhonda Pawlak and you can find her name on the website in the consultant's list. Anyway- I have been doing this for 3 years now, and so has my mom, and it is so fun to save!! oh- and you can let me know if you have any more questions too. I could sure answer what I can. Thanks!
Hey Lori! I'm so glad you found my blog...I'm really surprised we haven't run into each other at SB, Etc. There are some days when I feel like I need a cot in the office!
I remember the coupon clipping from back in the days of O.C. Wow, that was a long time ago!
