I've always wanted to go to Switzerland ever since I saw the Sound of Music and fell in love with real chocolate. I just might get that chance. Brent has been transferred to Huaraz, Peru. He said in his last e-mail that he left Bueas Aires, Peru and was sweating (this is summer time in Peru) and when he woke up (its about a 7 hour bus trip) he was freezing. He said it is 11,000 feet straight up! He went from this:
To this:

This is the view right outside his window. This mountain is called Huascaran. It is the 2nd highest mountain in the world (Mt. Everest is the highest). It will take him about 2 weeks to adjust to the altitude. He mentioned that he would like for us to see this area when we come to pick him up. I might never get the opportunity in my life to see Switzerland, but I might be able to see "Switzerland South".

I'm SO worried if you guys go there while you are picking him up! You won't be qable to breathe and you'll have serious problems....PLEASE don't go there! I'm already not a big fan of my whole family going to Peru! What if something happens. I'll die. (sorry to be a downer!) BUT SERIOUSLY!
Melissa - seriously calm down. We're not dying in Peru. I plan on dying right here at home on American soil. We probably won't be able to go there because it takes 2 weeks to climatize and we will only have about 4 days in Peru with Brent.
Wow. He is really up there isn't he? Any altitude sickness? I have a young friend who served a welfare mission in Peru about 10 years ago. She spent most of her time in the mountains. She survived!
I hope you are feeling better or at least on your way!
2 WEEKS! Thats a long time to try and get used to something! Hope he is doing ok....makes me worried about him.
