That is the question that I remember asking all of my friends when I was in grade school. I did it because I would plan my "route" for Halloween. I would find out who was giving the candy bars away and of course you had to get to those houses first. Next in line were the few houses that gave away money (Mr. Lilly use to always give me quarters). Then you could work your way to the sucker houses and the tootsie roll houses. You tried to avoid the dentist houses because they would be giving away toothbrushes with their business name printed on the handle and there was the neighbor who was a health nut; she would give away rice cakes or granola bars (the icky kind). I don't even know why I went to that lady's house other than I kept thinking that maybe she would have a melt down or something and give away good stuff. She never had that melt down - darn it! My favorite house was our next door neighbor, Mary Lou Martin because she always had a "special" bag for me with really good hand selected candy and occasionally a popcorn ball. Yum!!
So, what are you giving away? Who knows, you might just get a 5'4" witch at your door Saturday night!

I bought Kit Kat's...but then found an empty bag so I have to head back to the store tomorrow...
I have to get to the store! We usually hand out candy bars- the good stuff!:) Too bad I usually eat a lot of it... Lori
I used to plan my route too! We don't know what we will be handing out yet. Hopefully we'll be done moving.
We will probably do Hersheys Peanut Butter cups. They are my favorite! That reminds me that I need to go to the store too.
