Brent is officially in "the field". He is in a little jungle area of Peru called Cachepampa (don't even ask me to say it because I mess up everytime). Yes, I said Jungle. Here is a picture of Brent walking through the jungle in search of a place to hold their baptisms.

He is so happy because there are a total of 13 baptisms scheduled for April!! Every Saturday will be a celebration. He is really excited that these baptisms will be held in a river . . . just like how John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ. So Brent and his companion and a couple of members spent his P-day the first part of April finding the perfect place to have it. He showed us some pictures of how fierce this river is in parts. (Wouldn't be too good to have your brand new member of the Church drowning - or worse, the sweet missionary.) Well after a long search here is the place they found.

Now here is the funniest part of this update . . . Brent is only the 3rd missionary out in this area. Because this is a new area, there isn't really anyplace for the missionaries to live. (Remember, he's in the jungle). They are temporarily living with a host family who is providing them a room, cooking their meals and doing their laundry. Of course their home is very, very small and really can't accomodate two big 19 & 20 year old young men. So the missionaries are building their own house! They are getting some help from some of the locals, but every morning they work on it a little bit themselves.

Now I have to admit the first time I heard this I was not too thrilled knowing that my poor little boy was in the jungle, wading through dangerous water and having to build his own shelter, but now that I think about it more what an amazing experience this young man is having. Plus, how many of you can say you know how to lay brick and can build your own home? Plus . . . look at these pictures. He is smiling like crazy in every single one. I know he is happy and so that helps me a great deal.

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!! Everytime I think about it, I start crying! I can't believe he is so amazing and I'm sad cause while we evnjoy our comfy houses, he is living so crappy! But i know he is happy!
His smile says it all! It must make you and Doug so happy too! He is doing a good work!
Don't worry about his safety as long as he is a good, diligent missionary and follows the mission rules he will be watched over. Sarah never told us about some of the scary places she had to tract through in Ithaca and Syracuse until she got home...then I nearly fainted! But the Lord protects His own!!
Give my love to Doug!
WOW! That is so amazing!! It looks like he is having a good time!Has he seen any animals and birds, (since he is in the jungle of course?) Really cool
Love the pictures...keep sending us the emails too, I love to read about how he is doing! What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
